Just add 8 – 10 drops of essential oil to ½ a bucket of hot water before adding your usual cleaning fluid.

7/ Cleaning your fridge / freezer, use fragrances of Lemon, Bergamot, Orange or Grapefruit.
Half fill a bucket with clean water mix 3 drops of the essential oil of your choice, mix with a drop of washing up liquid, this will help disperse the oil, then wipe it out with cloth to leave a nice gentle fresh clean smell.

Place a couple of drops in a cotton ball and place in your wardrobe or cupboard then every time you open the doors you will get a fresh aroma

9/ Refresh your carpets with a mixture of baking soda or cornstarch and your favourite essential oils.
This is little more difficult as you need a airtight container, then add 10 drops of essential oil to 200 grams of baking soda or cornstarch, mix everything together well and store in the airtight container for at least 2 days, before you use give the mixture a good stir then sprinkle over your carpet and leave for a few hours, then Hoover the carpet in the normal way to leave it smelling fresh and clean.

11/ Existing Potpourri can be refreshed when it has lost its fragrance, almost any oil is suitable but the floral fragrances will always work the best, be aware that mixing two or three oils may suit better and give a more natural fragrance.
Take the existing Potpourri and place in a suitable bag, and then add a few drops of the chosen essential oil to the contents and keeping the bag tightly sealed shake vigorously.

12/ Keep small rodents and insects at bay using Peppermint essential oil, this has method has been used successfully in deterring ants, spiders, mice and other creepy crawling insects away.

The above is only a few ideas of what you can use our essential oils for and how you can use them around the house, once you have become used to using essential oils and you start to get more used to the benefits they give, you will soon be able to invent your own ways to use the oils.
If you have already got some oils then try mixing them to see what fragrances you can come up with.

Experimenting with essential oils is how you learn and how you create your own balance of aromas. By starting with a few drops of any citrus oils like Grapefruit, Mandarin or Lemon then adding maybe a drop of a more floral oil you can not go far wrong.

By writing down which oils you mix together and how many drops you put in then you will find out what aromas you like and don’t like. Then by adding a drop more or adjusting the mix you can create a variation of aromas by just using 3 oils. Aromatherapy can be fun by testing out what works for you.
